Choosing comfort

Each of the manufacturers we work with have utilised their experience of the industry, knowledge of sleep and the diverse sleeping requirements of the nation to refine the mattresses we supply to you. A good mattress for you will offer appropriate support to every part of the body. The support level is dependent on the mattress construction. The best mattress is one which has enough support to complement your natural spinal curvature, whilst easing pressure points that promote tossing and turning. In other words -

The best mattress for you is that one that you find comfortable!

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you sell mattresses for immediate delivery?
Yes, we hold a stock of mattresses for immediate delivery from some of the UK’s leading bed and mattress manufacturers including Hypnos and Millbrook. We mainly stock king size mattresses and these can be generally delivered in 7 days depending on where you live in the UK.
Which mattresses will suit my bed frame
Whilst most mattresses are manufactured to sit on top of a divan bed base or a box spring, all of the mattresses we sell can be used in conjunction with a bed frame. Please note that gaps between slatted bed frames cannot be more than 3 inches between each slat.
What tension will be right for me?
We cannot advise customers which tension will be the right one them. We do advise that customers seek to try a mattress before purchasing or something similar from the same manufacturer. Most people in the UK are used to firmer tension mattresses because this is essentially what we have been used to historically so it is always worth considering this. Beyond these two points, it is generally accepted within the industry that lighter people might opt for medium or softer tension mattresses, whilst heavier people might opt for medium or firmer tension mattresses.
Does a higher spring count equate to a better bed?
Spring counts can vary anywhere from 600-18,000+. They often say that a higher spring count equates to better and more even support across the mattress. However, remember a mattresses spring count isn't everything as many variations such as quantity and quality of fillings are equally, if not more important. Mattress fillings range from synthetics to naturals, and our bed manufacturers tend to price position based on the level of luxury layered upon your pocket springs. Look for Hypnos and Burgess beds, should you require a more luxurious, natural filling to sleep on.
What is the difference between handmade and machine-made mattresses?
Hand side stitching – achieved by using long upholstery needles with natural linen high tensile strength twine – secures the outer pocket springs to the mattress border for firmness and support. This process is labour intensive and only a few manufacturers (e.g. Millbrook, Hypnos, Burgess Beds) manufacture beds in this way. Hand side stitching gives you complete edge to edge support, thus allowing you to have full use of the bed. Machine side stitching is not as labour intensive, thus mattresses manufactured in this way tend to be cheaper. Machine side stitching tends to be done for aesthetic reasons, and is normally conducted on mattresses that are open coil.
My current mattress is making me too hot, which one should I go for?
There are many mattress technology concepts out there from cooling mattress fabrics to greater airflow within the mattress which will help regulate body temperature. Simple physics dictates that the denser something is the more likely it is to retain heat.

Know the size of mattress you need before you buy! UK mattress sizes are as follows:
Small Single – 75cm x 190cm / 2’6” x 6’3”
Single – 90cm x 190cm / 3’ x 6’3”
Small Double – 120cm x 190cm / 4’ x 6’3”
Double – 135cm x 190cm / 4’6” x 6’3”
King Size – 150cm x 200cm / 5” x 6’6”
Superking Size -180cm x 200cm / 6’ x 6’6”
Besides the size, there are other mattress options that may make it a more complex decision choosing the right mattress for you! Here’s a quick overview to make it easier for you to get the great night’s sleep you deserve: Pocket spring mattresses feature individual pockets that contain springs, providing complete even support and preventing ‘roll together.’ Latex mattresses spring back into shape as you move in bed, so there’s no need to worry about creating a ‘hollow’ from your favourite sleeping position. Memory foam mattresses adapt to your body’s weight and your sleeping position, creating complete support and comfort. Ortho or orthopaedic mattresses are designed to support the joints, spine and overall body. These mattresses are the perfect choice for those with back pain. .
