Every now and again we come across a new product which we have to talk about and Dormeo’s Octaspring is one such product. The memory foam mattress market has been dominated at the top end by TEMPUR™ over the last 20 years. Manufacturers from Harrison to Sealy have utilised materials with visco elastic properties or “memory foam” ever since, in recognition that memory foam creates an exceptional sleeping surface.
Cheap variations have tainted the concept to an extent and products have flooded the market seeking to recreate the TEMPUR™ experience at half the cost. Consumers are rarely conned by cheap imitations of the real thing and subsequently TEMPUR™ continues to go from strength to strength. This can be seen particularly as the concept has developed to include ranges such as the Cloud and Sensation which provide advancements from the Original models, all on a global scale.
Something new for 2012
The end of 2011 and start of 2012 is seeing the start of something new as Dormeo have released their Octaspring memory foam mattresses on to the global market. Over the coming months and years consumers will be educated by competing brands in to the concept of this exceptional sleeping surface and ultimately will now be able to consider 2 high end memory foam / visco elastic products.
The basic reason why memory foam or visco elastic is an exceptional sleeping surface is because it possess properties which mean that your sleeping surface will accept the pressure which you apply when sleeping upon it rather than push back against it. Both brands would undoubtedly accept that the visco elastic experience isn’t for everyone although the only way to make this assertion is to try both types next time you are buying a new mattress.
