Sealy Beds
The name Sealy beds is immediately recognisable as the world’s biggest bed manufacturer, renowned the world over for quality and the utilisation of the latest technology. For more than 125 years the name Sealy beds has been synonymous with sleep after a cotton gin builder called Daniel Haynes from Sealy (Just outside Houston) in Texas began making cotton-filled mattresses for his friends and neighbours in 1881. Haynes then went on to invent a machine that compressed cotton for use in mattresses which he patented in 1889. The "Mattress from Sealy" was born and became so popular that Haynes sold patent rights to people in other markets. In 1906 Haynes sold all of his patents and knowledge to a Texas company that took the name "Sealy" and the brand rose to national prominence in America under the promotion of advertising executive Earl Edwards. Edwards ensured the name was registered and developed a trademark behind the slogan "Sleeping on a Sealy is like sleeping on a cloud." Edwards' next idea ensured its long term success and evolution as he followed Coca-Cola's lead by establishing a licensing program and by 1920, Sealy beds had 28 licensed plants.
Today, Sealy beds is dedicated to making the world's favourite beds which means consistently making the world's most advanced sleeping systems. That's why they use the most sophisticated bed testing facilities in the world and invest more in research and development than any other bed manufacturer. This on-going commitment to research and development has resulted in Sealy winning various industry awards for quality, innovation and overall manufacturing excellence. An excellent example of this is the Reflex Pocket Range or RPC which has a barrel shaped spring. Following the launch of the Platinum, Gold and Silver Posturepedic range we are delighted to show amongst others the Avalon from the Platinum Collection in our Knutsford showroom.
